Legal & client disclosures

Clear boundaries. Honest services. No hidden promises.

Career Locksmith provides education, research, writing, and preparation. This page explains what we do, what we do not do, how fees work, and which client rights remain protected.

Last updated: September 9, 2026

01

Plain language first

These disclosures are written to be read—not hidden. They supplement the written scope or service agreement provided before paid work begins.

If a written term conflicts with a right that applicable law does not allow a business or consumer to waive, the law controls.

The bright line

What Career Locksmith will—and will not—do

These are operating commitments. They are designed to keep the service focused on truthful candidate preparation, not employer representation or job placement.

Career Locksmith will

  • ✓

Analyze a client-supplied résumé, LinkedIn profile, career goals, and saved job postings.

  • ✓

Provide career education, market research, truthful writing and editing, application strategy, and interview preparation.

  • ✓

Distinguish verified evidence from missing information, unsupported claims, and material risks.

  • ✓

Explain comparative Fit Scores and the reasoning behind them without presenting them as guarantees.

  • ✓

State the scope, deliverables, price, and any service window before paid work begins.

  • ✓

Use reasonable data-minimization, access, retention, and security practices for client information.

Career Locksmith will not

  • ×

Act as a staffing, recruiting, employment-placement, or employer-representation firm.

  • ×

Solicit employers, negotiate employment terms, or communicate as the client’s agent.

  • ×

Submit applications, answer screening questions, accept terms, or attend interviews in the client’s place.

  • ×

Guarantee ATS passage, an interview, an offer, a salary, continued employment, or placement.

  • ×

Invent, inflate, or conceal qualifications, dates, titles, credentials, accomplishments, or other material facts.

  • ×

Provide legal, tax, immigration, mental-health, or licensed financial advice.

The client remains the decision-maker.

You choose where to apply, review and approve your materials, submit your own applications, answer employer questions, and make all interview and employment decisions.

Results & scoring

Better information—not a promised outcome

Employer systems and decisions remain outside Career Locksmith’s control. The service improves the quality, relevance, and defensibility of the candidate’s preparation; it does not sell an interview or job.

01

Fit Scores are comparative

A score compares the documented candidate evidence with one specific saved job posting. It is an internal decision-support assessment—not a validated probability, credit score, employment test, or employer-issued rating.

02

A 9.2 is not 92%

A 9.2 Fit Score does not mean a 92% chance of passing an ATS or receiving an interview. Knockout questions, ATS configuration, timing, applicant volume, internal candidates, recruiter judgment, and hiring changes may alter the result.

03

Truth outranks optimization

Targeted materials may reorganize, clarify, and align verified experience. They will not add a skill, credential, result, or responsibility the client cannot honestly defend.

See the scoring example and weather-forecast analogy on the pricing explanation page.

Fees, timing & refunds

You pay for defined work—not for a percentage of your success

The free evaluation remains free. Any résumé rebuild, targeted package, interview preparation, or other paid service is a separate choice with a stated scope and price.

Price

The written price controls

Career Locksmith does not charge a percentage of salary or a contingent placement fee. Prices are in U.S. dollars unless a written order states otherwise.

Scope

Only approved work begins

The client receives the deliverables, service window, and price before paid work starts. Changes in scope may require a new written quote.

Timing

Package windows matter

Any delivery or expiration window shown in the written order controls. Unused services expire at the end of the stated window except where applicable law requires otherwise.

$

Quick success does not create a refund

Fees pay for agreed research, writing, education, preparation, delivered work, and any reserved capacity identified in the written order. Receiving an interview, offer, or job quickly—including after the first application—does not create a refund right and does not convert the fee into a success fee.

Except where applicable law requires otherwise, completed or delivered work, used services, and work already started or capacity already reserved under the written order are nonrefundable.

This policy does not limit rights concerning duplicate or unauthorized charges, a failure to deliver the agreed service, or another consumer right that applicable law does not allow the client to waive.

Client responsibilities

A truthful process requires truthful inputs

  1. 1

    Provide accurate information

Supply current, complete, and truthful work history, dates, credentials, accomplishments, and target information.

  2. 2

    Review before use

Read and approve every document and answer. Report errors or unsupported language before sending materials to an employer.

  3. 3

    Protect sensitive credentials

Do not send passwords, Social Security or Social Insurance numbers, government identification, or financial-account credentials unless a secure, documented need has been confirmed.

  4. 4

    Meet your deadlines

Share application or interview deadlines early. Career Locksmith cannot control employer deadlines, job-posting changes, or a client’s delayed response.

Privacy & data handling

Career information is personal information

Résumés may contain contact details, work history, education, compensation expectations, employment intentions, and other personal information. Career Locksmith’s operating goal is to collect only what is reasonably needed to evaluate or deliver the requested service.

Why information is used

To evaluate fit, prepare agreed materials, communicate with the client, maintain business records, process payment through the selected provider, and meet legal obligations.

Where it may be handled

Information may pass through service providers used for forms, cloud storage, email, scheduling, document delivery, and payment processing. Those providers apply their own terms and privacy practices.

What is not sold or submitted

Career Locksmith does not sell client résumés or personal information and does not send client information directly to employers as part of this service. Clients receive their materials and decide what to submit.

Questions and requests

Clients may request access, correction, or deletion where applicable by emailing privacy@mycareerlocksmith.com. Identity verification may be required before a request is completed.

No system is risk-free.

Career Locksmith uses reasonable administrative and technical practices, but cannot promise absolute security. Clients should remove unnecessary sensitive information before submitting documents.

Service territory

United States first. Canada by confirmed written availability.

A web page visible in a location does not mean every service is offered or legally available there. Consumer, privacy, marketing, tax, and employment-services rules can vary by U.S. state and Canadian province or territory.

United States

Current paid-service territory

Career Locksmith currently offers virtual services to U.S. residents where permitted. Availability may be limited if a jurisdiction or requested activity would place the engagement outside Career Locksmith’s defined educational and consultative service model.

Canada

Evaluation first; paid work only after confirmation

Canadian residents may request the free initial evaluation. Career Locksmith will accept a paid Canadian engagement only after confirming availability and providing written terms that identify currency, applicable taxes, privacy handling, and required provincial, territorial, or federal consumer rights.

Texas law may be identified in a written service agreement to the extent permitted, but mandatory protections that apply where a client resides are not waived merely by a choice-of-law clause.

Pay It Forward referral disclosure

Success can open a door for someone else

When Career Locksmith confirms that a client has reached a qualifying successful outcome under the current program terms, that client will receive five one-time Pay It Forward referral codes to share with colleagues, friends, or family. An eligible $350K+ targeted-package referral may also earn a fixed professional-courtesy award under the published program rules.

5
One-time referral codes issued after a qualifying outcome is confirmed
10% or 20%
The referred client’s discount depends on the eligible service or pricing tier; it is not a flat percentage for every purchase
$250
Maximum discount value for any one code
$100
Fixed referrer award for a qualifying $350K+ targeted-package referral—not a salary or package-price percentage

Codes benefit the eligible new client and have no cash value; any separately earned $100 referrer award is governed by the published program rules. Unless those written terms say otherwise, codes cannot be stacked, sold, transferred for value, applied retroactively, or used by the issuing client.

The Pay It Forward program page defines qualifying outcomes, eligible packages, expiration, award timing, and other governing rules. Program changes will apply prospectively; an issued code is governed by the written terms supplied with it.
