A useful way to understand the market

The level changes the competition—and the preparation required

The sports comparison is about market structure, not your age, ability, or personal worth. At every level, people deserve serious preparation. As compensation, visibility, and business impact rise, openings become scarcer and the research becomes deeper.

A progression from youth recreation fields to high-school competition, college athletics, and a professional stadium.
More visible roles usually bring fewer openings, more qualified competitors, more decision-makers, and higher stakes.

$30K–$60K target base

Youth & Recreation

The field is broad and participation is high. Professional guidance should remain accessible while helping your application show clearly where you fit.

$60K–$90K target base

High School

There is still significant volume. Standing out in the first review matters because employers may screen many capable applicants before a person ever reads the résumé closely.

$90K–$225K target base

College

Competition tightens and specialization matters more. This broadly includes the $100K–$200K middle range, where evidence of scope, systems, leadership, and results must be sharper.

$225K+ target base

Professional

Openings are scarcer and scrutiny is higher. Executive work can require business-context research, leadership narrative development, risk analysis, and preparation for multiple decision-makers.

Your honest starting point

Your current résumé opens the conversation—it does not close the door

The résumé you submit first shows what an employer can verify about you today. Career Locksmith evaluates that evidence at no charge, identifies what is clear or missing, and explains how your current story aligns with the opportunities you want.

Foundation Résumé Rebuild

Flat-rate quote

A résumé rebuild is priced as its own clearly defined project after the free evaluation. It does not automatically enroll you in an application campaign. The exact scope and fee are provided in writing before work begins.

“One size doesn’t fit all.”

A strong foundational résumé gives you a credible story. A targeted résumé connects that truthful story to one specific opportunity and its Applicant Tracking System.

Why targeted work matters

A polished résumé can still be the wrong résumé for a particular opening

A single general résumé may force you to spend hours applying while automated screening fails to connect your actual experience to the language of the role. Targeting does not manufacture qualifications. It helps the employer’s Applicant Tracking System—and eventually a human reviewer—see the relevant evidence that is already true.

Pricing questions clients should ask

Why is the target salary used instead of my current salary?

The target role determines the competitive field, depth of research, decision-maker expectations, and stakes of the work. Your current salary does not increase or decrease the price.

What if the evaluation shows I am not ready for my target role?

You will receive an honest explanation of what your current résumé proves, what is missing, and what realistic steps could strengthen your position. The purpose is clarity—not discouragement or gatekeeping.

Does the free evaluation require a purchase?

No. You may use the evaluation to make your own decision. Paid work begins only after you choose a defined service and approve its price.

Will one foundation résumé work for every application?

No single résumé is optimally aligned to every posting. A foundation résumé can make your professional story clearer; targeted résumé work then connects that truthful story to a specific employer’s requirements.

Do you take a percentage of my first-year salary?

No. Career Locksmith charges only for the agreed research, writing, education, and preparation. There is no success fee.

Does purchasing a package guarantee interviews or employment?

No. Career Locksmith is not a staffing or recruiting firm, does not represent employers, and cannot guarantee an interview, offer, salary, or placement. What we can provide is a disciplined, evidence-based way to compare opportunities before you invest your time.

Career Locksmith Fit Score

0.0–10.0

The Fit Score compares your documented experience with a specific saved job posting. It considers required qualifications and screening risks, truthful ATS language alignment, role scope, systems, leadership, measurable results, and likely strength in a human review. The score is comparative—not a mathematical probability.

One candidate. Three postings. Three different outlooks.

Illustrative example only—the actual score must be based on the candidate’s evidence and the exact posting.

Example Career Locksmith Fit Scores and comparative ATS and interview outlooks for three job postings
Sample target posting Fit Score ATS outlook Interview outlook
Director of Training & Development 9.2/10 Very strong alignment Strongest of these three
Vice President, Learning & Development 7.6/10 Viable, with visible gaps More uncertain
Director of Learning Operations 8.9/10 Strong alignment Competitive outlook

Important: A 9.2 Fit Score does not mean a 92% chance of an interview. Employer ATS settings, knockout questions, applicant volume, internal candidates, recruiter judgment, timing, and hiring changes remain outside Career Locksmith’s control.
